I spent my weekend in Santa Cruz with a few friends. The weather was so hot that we didn’t do much except staying cool in our vacation rental. So, I used this opportunity to get their feedbacks on my Lady Grey muslin. A few takeaways:
1. Do not use dark fabrics as a muslin because it is quite hard to spot some fitting issues with dark fabrics
2. Do not forget seam allowance which automatically shaves off 5/8″ from lapels and collar. Here it is,
3. Because of my dark muslin, I didn’t notice wrinkles on the back around armholes and sleeves
According to Fit for Real People, this is a round back syndrome and can be mitigated by creating a dart in the area with wrinkles and Gertie is suggesting adding shoulder pads. Other fellow sewalongers also suggest letting out the princess seam a bit. I need to tinker with all these tips.
Alright, I got a few things to fix and I may re-do my muslin with a lighter fabrics. I may wait for another week or two before restarting my muslin because people have been posting great tips on flikr and I am hoping to get more suggestions on how to correct those issues.
