Long time ago before sewing and knitting, there was cross-stitching. I started doing cross-stitch when I was ten for my craft class in school. It was fun especially because the pattern books available then were quite cute and contemporary. But being a restless kid I was, I often could not complete the project on time and my mom had to come to my rescue.
Fast forward 14 years later, I reconnected with cross-stitch thanks to my sister. I haven’t talked much about my sister but she’s actually the long-time crafty one in the family. The only thing is she does not pursue any particular craft religiously the way I do now. She went from crocheting in middle school to sewing and cross-stitching in college to hair accessories making now. Plus, with a kid in tow, she can’t do much.
Anyway, while summering in Indonesia back in 2002, I finished this project but never get to properly frame it
I even engraved it with my romanized chinese name, Fung which means phoenix.
Here is a WIP for oh I don’t know seven years and counting? My sister and I both love Precious Moments cross-stitch and this is from one of the booklets that I own
Well, maybe I will have the drive to finally turn this WIP to FO after seeing these cuteness done by Petit Details
