Mr. Su was bitten by fleas nesting in the boxes that we staged in the sewing room. This is what happen when you are too cheap to buy new boxes and just used friend’s boxes that were piled in her garage. We immediately discarded those boxes and de-contaminated the entire apartment and cars. Because of that, the sewing room was open for two days before we pile it with boxes again. I jump at the sewing opportunity and this is what I churned out
Pattern Description: Simplicity 2593 view C (frill omitted). It is a simple sleeveless top with some gathering in front
Pattern Sizing: I cut size 6. After sewing a few Simplicity patterns, I am now convinced that I am size 6 (I have tried 10 and 8 with other patterns and they didn’t fit as well). The pattern envelope listed size 6 is for 31″ bust with 5″ positive ease.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instruction is very clear. The patterns are really simple, it has 5 pieces: one front, one back and the rest are bias binding to finish the armholes and neckline.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Likes: love the simple style and how quick it was to sew
Fabric Used: 100% cotton scarf from Liberty at Target. It is about 1.5 yards and more than enough to make this simple top. It is not as nice as the real cotton lawn I am sure. But hey, at $14.99 I can’t complain.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I omitted the sleeve frill
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Maybe, but I highly recommend it for beginners or anybody looking for instant gratification
I am wearing it to a friend’s baby shower today and pair it with a hot pink cardigan
