I am a little sad because my sewing room will be closed temporarily for a few weeks. We are getting ready to move and Mr. Su has been using our (read: my) office/sewing room as a staging area. Boxes are piling up and I need to purge junks out. This is the state of the room.
I want to fill my new sewing room with furniture only after I unpack and settle in. This is my way of preventing impulse purchases that I will later regret. It is a good idea to settle in and get to know the room better before I decorate her with furniture.
While the room is closed, I’ve been salivating over sewing a few more tops for spring/summer. Alexander top is on hold until I find a suitable fabric. But I do have a black and white gingham fabric for Simplicity 2599.
I saw Sarah’s outcome and am going to totally copy her.
I also have Target’s liberty fabric from a scarf ($14.99 for almost 1.5 yards, scored) and am thinking about another sleeveless top, Simplicity 2593, which coincidentally Amanda has sewn with the same fabric (great mind think alike lol)
In the meantime, I can only knit (not that it is a bad thing). I spoke to my mom over the weekend about the top that I plan to knit her. She said that global warmng has reached her neck of the wood, so knitted item may not be a good idea. She wants a store-bought item instead (I am not offended). So, I decided to cast on Rosa from Kim Hargreaves’ Thrown Together for myself
This is the second pattern that I try out of this book. My first one is Olivia, which didn’t turn out as I wanted it. That was my third sweater though. She just recently released a new book called Misty and it is all the rage right now on ravelry. I am thinking about treating myself to this book next month.
Oh yeah, I also participated in FQ swap hosted by Sew Mama Sew and I am loving it. People are so generous and shower me with these
I told my partners that I want to make either blue and red quilt or quilt with a storybook theme. Swapping is a great way to enhance my FQ collection and connect with people. I am expecting a few more coming in this week.
Have a great workweek people
