Merry Christmas to you all, I hope you and yours are enjoying plenty of hugs, kisses, good food and good companies. Mine is relatively quiet. My SIL and we decided to have a Christmas eve lunch and gift opening right after that because she has something going on with her husband’s family on Christmas day. On Christmas eve night, we went to Sumiya, a yummy yakitori place in Santa Clara. We were so happy that they were open because a lot of restaurants, even Asian restaurants, were closed. The food was yummy, we ordered grilled gizzard, grilled duck breast, grilled cow tongue…aaahhh it’s been a while since I ate exotic stuffs like that.
Anyway, how is the elf doing? Since the family gathering got moved a day earlier. The elf did not finish the amigurumi rabbit in time for the gathering but it is done now
Yarn: Crystal Palace Yarns Merino 5 Solid (2.5 skeins)
Needle: Size 6
I did not swatch, I wanted it to come out bigger than the pattern sample since I was using heavier yarn.
I did not really like how it turned out. The body is a bit too short and stodgy. Also, I did not do a good job stuffing the polyester fill since this is my first attempt to knit a toy. Worse of all, it is not knitted in round, so I had to do a lot of seaming. I always do that, I hate seaming yet I continue knitting patterns that require seaming. Reason being, I love British designers so much and they all love knitting in pieces. Designer like Kim Hargreaves, Debbie Bliss, Martin Storey are my favorites and I have not seen any of their patterns knitted in round.
I don’t think I will give this rabbit to Angelies, I may have to stop by Target or something.
Here is another shot of Mr. rabbit
Speaking of gift, my husband gave me a surprise on Christmas day. We usually give each other a wish list for Christmas or Birthday. That way, we get stuffs that we want. He wanted a camera lens and I got him that a few weeks before Christmas. I, on the other hand, could not make up my mind between a serger, a dressform or 2009 Threads Magazine Archive DVD. I was supposed to do some research to figure it out but I was lazy and busy. As a result, we did not buy anything for me. I figured when my research mojo is back, I will do it then. He felt bad for me and secretly went shopping and got me this. It’s a necklace and I am allowed to exchange it if I don’t like it. Well, I don’t quite like the design so we’ll go to Tiffany tomorrow and pick something out. He totally does not mind because he was not sure when he bought it, but the sales lady was pushing hard.
We stayed up late last night because I wanted to finish Mr. Rabbit and he wanted to put the gift underneath the tree without my knowledge. By 1 am last night, he looked tired while I was still energetic and it did not occur to me to question why he stayed up late last night (he normally goes to bed at 11.30 pm, weeknights or weekends). As soon as I went brushing my teeth, he sneaked out of the bedroom and put that little blue box under the tree. I was surprised when I discovered it this morning. Thanks honey.
With that the elf is signing off to enjoy quality time with the man. Merry Christmas !!
