Exactly what i’ve been fearing, I do not have the discipline to keep a blog. Precisely a month after my last and first post, I have not posted anything at all. Well, the good ol excuse, my day job is keeping me super busy. But, i still make time for crafting.
I finished sewing the 2+2 blouse and skirt pattern. Here is the photo of the top, I have yet to take the shot of the skirt
It is for my niece Dominique. I must say, this is the best $10 I ever spent on a pattern (bought it on sale at bobbins nest studio in Santa Clara). The instructions are super clear, perfect for beginner sewer like me. The patterns are not drafted on a flimsy tissue papers like what you find in the big 4 patterns. But above all, I love love the design of this outfit, simple and sweet. I hope lil Dominique will like it.
I also finished sewing the flower girl dress from Weekend Sewing (also for Dominique) but no picture yet. The dress should be simple to sew, the problem is the instructions are not that clear. A typical beginner, I have no clue what facing was and what it was used for. For those who don’t know what facing is, a facing is the area of a garment or sewn item that turns to the inside, giving a finished appearance to what would otherwise just be a raw edge of fabric (as quoted from here). I was having a hard time interpreting how to sew up the main bodice and facing. Long story short, I reversed engineer it and was able to figure it out.
With that, I have two more gift deadlines to meet. I am almost done with this sweater for Jayden. Since I have to mail the gifts to Indonesia before the end of this week, I am tempted to cut corner and skip the hood. We’ll see. Another project is the Kai shirt for my other nephew Nathan, also from Weekend Sewing. I have cut out the fabric but time is running out so I will not mail this out along with the other FOs to my family.
