Flower girl dress from Weekend Sewing. the fabric is a simple brown polka dot quilting cotton purchased at Eddie’s Quilting Bee in Sunnyvale. As I mentioned earlier, i was struggling with this dress because the instructions were not clear. One person left a comment that this book has some errata. Other than that it’s very straight forward, sew bodice, attach strap and attach the bottom to the bodice and voila, you sew yourself a dress
Up next is the 2 + 2 skirt from Oliver + S. The fabric is some sort of wooly feel woven fabric from JoAnn (what a surprise). I am not very well versed at different type of fabric yet, so for now i call it wooly feel woven fabric. I don’t normally enjoy making pleats but i enjoyed this pattern so much that i didn’t mind. The fabric was not cooperating though, it didn’t pleat well, perhaps i should have gone with a sturdier material.
This is from a few months ago when the weather was still warm. The pattern is free from here. The designer is Lien Ngo, she’s so witty and I enjoy her blog so much. What i like about this pattern is the cute design (so me) and it teaches me the short row technique to shape the hem. That way, the hem looks round and curved as opposed to flat and boxy. The yarn is Rowan Purelife DK (100% cotton) purchased at Purlescence Yarns in Sunnyvale and I used five skeins.
Sorry for the rather dark photos. I am planning to learn photography so that i can take better pictures.
