No, it’s not christmas gifts that I am currently working on. I don’t think I will get into Christmas gift making frenzy, not this year. Instead, I am busy making gifts for the babies that are arriving and have arrived. My brother and two friends just had their second babies two months ago and another two good friends are expecting in a month. So, between now and gosh, i don’t know, next month? I am busy making gifts.
They were instant hits among my non-crafty friends. They thought those booties are rocket science, but they are relatively easy. Thanks a lot Stardust and Chickpeastudio. I enjoy making them because they are fun to make and give me a chance to bust my Heather Ross’ stash. Since I am a beginner, it took me four hours to churn out the first pair of booties. At first, I was not very good with sewing in curve but I got better. After that, it only took an hour/pair. The bibs were no less challenging especially when it came to sewing in a tiny corner. The seam ripper was my best friend.
– sewing in curve
– booties and bibs construction of course
I am also currently knitting this sweater for my new born nephew, Jayden. I love the basket weave stitch pattern and the shape of the sweater. The little hoodie is a plus since he lives in a tropical island that rains all year long. The yarn is Sesia Baby, it is a cotton sport weight that i bought in Rome a month ago. The yarn is so soft and light, I was bumped that it had been discontinued (that explained the rock-bottom price i paid)
Next in line are a few dresses for my niece, Dominique. She’s six months old and I haven’t made her anything since she was born (bad aunt), so I am determined to make it up to her. I am still in a process of shortlisting a few patterns.
In the meantime, I have this sweater and this pair of socks halfway done. I probably won’t get to them until all gifts are done because those babies grow fast !! I feel strange having multiple projects at a time because I prefer a monogamous relationship with my project. I started the sweater a week before my trip to Europe a month ago. While traveling, I could only carry a small project with me, hence the socks.
