Here is my Beatnik.
I am in love with Audrey Hepburn’s style and was happy to achieve this Audrey-esque look (top, capri plus flats) through my newly purchased pants from Banana Republic
Pattern: Beatnik by Norah Gaughan (free on Knitty)
Needle: size 8 and size 7
Size: smallest
Yarn: 8 skeins Berroco Inca Gold, which I recycled from the Diminishing Rib Cardigan project. I hardly wear this cardigan (too room-y and I don’t like that it doesn’t have a closure). This yarn is a joy to knit and wear. It feels so buttery and totally comfortable
Modifications: I knit the front and back in round instead of in pieces. Converting pattern to knit in round is not as hard as I thought. Just cast on for both front and back and join to knit in round. Because I run out of yarn, I knit the sleeve length 1″ shorter (from hem to underarm). I also don’t knit the collar in full (4″ and fold), I just knit 1.5″ which is why my version looks a little crew neck-y. No matter, I am happy with the result and glad that I don’t have to spend another $11 for another skein of yarn
I really love this pullover design, it has enough cable but it’s not overwhelming. I love its modern interpretation of aran sweater. It fits well and looks flattering on almost every knitter who knits it. It is overwhelming to keep track of the chart. I follow tips from the Sweatshop of Love to color code each chart set, it works like a charm. After a while, I get a hang of all patterns in the chart. The sleeves are a little tight but I love the moss stitch details. I plan to knit two sleeves at once, but I forget about it by the time I get to the sleeves. Oh well…
All in all, I love this sweater a lot. Too bad that winter is almost over. It is time to wind down my knitting and put more time into sewing
And one last picture

Awesome job! So glad my crayon chart helped! I’m sure you’ll be able to wear it for a little while longer, anyway! And you are so right – very Audrey Hepburn!
