I finally finished this Geodesic cardigan after simmering in my WIP bin since early September
Pattern: Geodesic Cardigan by Connie Chang Chinchio and I knit the smallest size
Yarn: Malabrigo Lace in Black Forest less than 2 skeins
Needle: US size 7
Alteration: lengthen the sleeves a bit and decrease it to make sure the sleeves have a snug fit
I love the fit and after making three of Connie’s design, I must say I never have a fit issue. Every single one comes out fitting my body perfectly. The construction is seamless top down except for the sleeves. The pleats make this sweater very interesting and I enjoy knitting the pleat because it involves short-row. I am just so amazed at what short-row can do to take a 2D garment and fit it to a 3D body. Not a big fan of knitting the sleeves in round. It is just not as tight and neat as it would knit in flat.
Though the yarn is very soft and comfortable to wear, I am not a big fan of knitting sweater with lace weight yarn. It is so fine and I am just afraid of breaking the yarn in the midst of knitting, I am a tight knitter after all. Thankfully, it holds up pretty well. But, no more knitting sweater with lace weight. On the other hand, this yarn is quite affordable at less than $10 a skein and it has generous yardage (440 yards).
